About the branch

At Parks Victoria, the Business & Infrastructure Services (BIS) division contains Fire & Emergency, People & Culture, Health Safety & Environment, State-wide & Infrastructure and Information Technology services.  The division provides the strategies, business processes and systems to efficiently and effectively deliver these core support services to Parks Victoria and the community.

With a customer centric services culture, the Information & Technology Services (ITS) branch provides expert IT advisory, solution and support services in accordance with the strategic technology vision for Parks Victoria: “Analogue to digital 2020 - connected, informed, engaged and digitally enabled people, places and services”.

The branch is led by Parks Victoria's Chief Information Officer, and comprises three teams -  Innovation, Projects & Governance, Applications and IT Operations. 

About the role

The focus of this position is the maintenance and management of all Spatial Systems in Parks Victoria. There is also a focus on effective and innovative development of applications delivering location services to improve access to information which translates into business benefits for Parks Victoria. Additionally, this position is responsible for the documentation and effective application of business processes within the team. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of Parks Victoria's spatial data library. The incumbent will also assist the Team in the delivery of spatial training to all Parks Victoria staff.

 

To be successful for this role you need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Geomatics or a related field and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Advanced skills in the use of ArcGIS for both cartography and spatial analysis.
  • Advanced data management skills in spatial databases and demonstrated experience in the use of SQL or Oracle as an enterprise wide relational database.
  • Effective business engagement skills, particularly in the provision of business information and reporting.
  • Strong conceptual and logical thinking; well-developed analytical skills, ability to evaluate future application technology and strategies with a focus on business objectives and translate into practical fit-for-purpose solutions.
