Position Details

  • Part time (0.6 job-share) maximum term contract up to 12 months (parental leave backfill)
  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $136,230 - $156,705 plus superannuation


About the role:
As a requirement of the Legal Aid Act, we are responsible for administering the Legal Aid Fund in a fair, efficient and economic manner. The Associate Director, Assignments will lead and manage this function in accordance with Victoria Legal Aid's strategic directions and values, as well as providing high quality leadership by promoting and supporting collaboration between Assignments teams and providing guidance on team priorities.

In collaboration with the Executive Director Legal Practice, you will provide oversight and support over Legal Practice projects, act as representative on various internal groups and committees, and participate and contribute to the planning, service delivery and continuous improvement of Legal Practice. You will also develop and foster supportive and strategic relationships between internal staff across corporate and program areas, the community legal sector, private practitioners and professional bodies.

About you:
You are an enthusiastic leader with substantial management experience within the public or legal sector, including leading teams to high performance, managing change, and delivering on priorities. 

You will also have experience leading strategic planning, policy development, and project implementation.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your high level interpersonal skills, ability to influence, negotiate and build effective relationships with a diverse range of staff and stakeholders. As a strong leader, you have the capacity to contribute to our vision and values by continually striving towards improving client services.

Prior experience managing administrative decision makers will be highly regarded.
