About the role

Rangers use their skills and experience to manage, protect and maintain park values and assets and support great visitor experiences - day visitor areas, camping areas, roads and walking tracks and to protect biodiversity and visitor sites by managing pest plants and animals. As part of a small, committed team you'll be helping to manage an area that has an extensive network of walking tracks, including the iconic Australian Alps Walking Track (AAWT), remote campsites, historic huts and 4WD tracks, snow capped mountains, pristine mountain rivers and foothill forests which draw thousands of visitors per year. You'll also be involved Traditional Owner engagement, fire and emergency management, visitor engagement and compliance activities.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in natural resource management, a passion and interest in the natural environment.
  • The ability to operate comfortably and safely in remote areas, alpine and sub alpine environments and use practical skills to solve problems and maintain assets.
  • Great motivation, ability to communicate well, who genuinely enjoys working in small teams, engaging with community and park visitors.
