Position Details

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is seeking a technically strong, innovative and passionate Technical Advisor to lead our Safety Assurance Program.

The Team Leader - Technical Advice will be responsible for a team of Inspectors who will be promoting compliance and initiating enforcement activities with respect to inappropriate uses of cladding.

The Team Leader position is incredibly varied. You will be supervising staff on site, working with schedulers, providing advice, performing assessments, liaising with the community, whilst also helping shape the program strategically and innovatively.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the safety assurance project and identify and escalate buildings warranting immediate action for review and consideration.
  • Improve the administration and implementation of the Statewide Cladding Audit program to enhance regulatory practices, build industry and consumer confidence, and support a robust building sector.
  • Manage day to day activities of the team to ensure business outcomes are delivered and provide regular reports to the Principal Building Surveyor.
  • Develop and maintain key internal and external relationships to ensure that high quality, reliable and useful survey reports and correspondence are consistently produced by the team.

 
Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Substantial knowledge of the building industry, the regulatory framework, codes, regulations and standards in Victoria and/or other Australian jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Knowledge of Essential Safety Measures is desirable
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities for generating workplace innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and taking responsibility for initiating outcomes.


Salary Details

A base salary in the VPS Grade 6 $118,908 - $139,017 + 9.5% super
