Position Details

The Department of Premier and Cabinet has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Principal Technical Architect to join the Victorian Centre for Data Insights (VCDI).

VCDI has a whole-of-government role in leading the transformation of the VPS through data driven insights. It is helping to transform the way the Victorian Government uses data to inform policy making and service design on issues that cut across portfolios and are of whole-of-government significance.

As the Principal Technical Architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture and design of the VCDI data platform, applications, and services.

This role will lead the definition, oversight, and governance of architectural patterns for cloud services and data products in the VCDI estate, and will work collaboratively with the engineering, feature teams, security architects and analysts.

You will also play a lead role in the WoVG architecture community, exchanging information with the community and showcasing the VCDI architecture.

You will be an engaging technical leader with exceptional communication skills and a clear passion for empowering data-driven decision making across government.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in cloud platform architecture, with demonstrated experience in GCP, Azure and AWS.
  • Experience in building data systems
  • Extensive background in DevOps, DataOps and MLOps and demonstrated knowledge of CI/CD patterns and tooling.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security posture management and key cloud and data security tenets.
  • Solid understanding of Identity & Access Management in cloud platforms and systems.
