Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded, community-based emergency services organisations. We are proud of the work we do in protecting lives and property, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  CFA strives to be a values-based organisation and an organisation of choice for volunteers and employees, where people with a variety of skills, experiences and backgrounds all add value through the roles they perform.

About the Role:

A permanent, part time opportunity currently exists within the Volunteer Sustainability Team. With an innovative, best practice and evidence-based approach, you will play a key role in driving brigade sustainability and enabling the growth of volunteerism at CFA.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Officer Operational Performance and Capability, you will lead a diverse team to deliver state-wide programs. This role will partner with a range of internal and external stakeholders and provide high level advice, contributing to the strategic planning and direction of a unified volunteer/brigade support approach across the state.

You will support field-based brigade sustainability related research to identify challenges facing CFA and as a subject matter expert, advise senior management and key stakeholders on the social and environmental drivers impacting the sustainability of volunteering.

About you:

We are seeking a highly experienced leader in the field of volunteerism, with a strong understanding and commitment to the culture, needs and the impacts of a volunteer workforce. Your community development background will be underpinned by expertise managing and influencing the volunteer sustainability team to deliver complex and diverse programs. A well-developed understanding of Project Management practices including governance and risk and issue management will support you in this role. You will have strong research and financial management skills with the ability to present complex reports to senior management level. Important to this role is your ability to develop strategic partnerships to influence and drive change within a complex organisation.
