About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking applications from an experienced Peer Support Worker to join Warrnambool's Adult Mental Health Team and work alongside consumers, families and clinical staff to provide targeted support to consumers.

This rewarding role will offer assistance to consumers and their families accessing the Way Back Program and also educate staff on how to deliver clear and accessible information to them. The Peer Support Worker will also assist consumers to set goals, share experiences, develop and maintain community and natural support systems whilst upholding the six peer values.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining professional confidentiality and remaining consumer focused at all times. This role requires an applicant who is highly approachable and has an accepting manner and attitude, whilst able to demonstrate SWH values and those of Peer Workers.

Proven written and verbal communication skills are highly regarded, along with the ability to build effective partnerships with consumer networks and those managing service delivery at SWH and in the community.

Permanent ongoing part time position available.
