Position Details

About the Role

We have a unique opportunity for an Election Administration Project Officer to join the VEC on a fixed-term contract to February 2019. This is a new role reporting to the Election Procedures Manager. This role will be a key member of the Election Administration team, working on the preparation for and delivery of the 2018 State Election.

This role will work closely with the Election Procedures Manager on the design and maintenance of standard operating procedures that instruct the VEC's election workforce for the 2018 Victorian State Election. These procedures are critical in continuing to improve the voting experience for all Victorians, ensuring our election workforce of nearly 20,000 staff deliver fair and impartial elections, and remain compliant with legislation.

This role will liaise with multiple stakeholders from across the organisation and facilitate input into the election operating procedures and supporting documentation, ensuring they are high quality and fit-for-purpose.

This role will be focused on technical writing and facilitation of input from key stakeholders. Additionally during the election period, the role may be required to assist with the complaints handling process, and at completion of the election will be focused on incorporating feedback into the operating procedures and supporting documentation.

The successful applicant

Experience in developing effective instructional materials and standard operating procedures are essential for this role. You have previous expertise in capturing, illustrating, and communicating complex and tightly regulated processes using traditional written and contemporary mediums.

You will have well developed communication and negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders.

The ability to work on a number of simultaneous projects with inflexible deadlines is also essential.

Previous operational experience in elections or working in a similar events management organisation would be desirable.
