  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $68,339 - $88,435 plus superannuation

About the role:
You will act as an advocate by providing high quality legal services in the south east region including duty lawyer services, casework and advice services relating to criminal law, and family violence matters (depending on which role you take up).  This will include providing legal information and advice to clients in custody or members of the public by appointment or phone, or via outreach visiting services.

You will regularly appear in local courts and tribunals to effectively represent our diverse client base and actively participate in community legal education projects. You will also be expected to contribute to the development of strategies to improve client services. A key focus of these roles is high volume Court work presenting an excellent opportunity to further develop your advocacy skills.

About you:
We are looking for lawyers who can deliver high volume client services and handle busy court lists, but also identify opportunities for continuous improvement and participate in community legal education. You will be invested in the local Dandenong community, enjoy a challenge and thrive under pressure. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to obtain clear instructions, and explain complex legal matters in simple terms.

You will also have a good understanding of the underlying systemic issues contributing to our client's legal issues and the important role external organisations, community and welfare groups play in providing holistic services.
