Position Details

Yoorrook has been established as an independent Royal Commission under the Inquiries Act 2014. It will focus on truth-telling and healing for First Peoples, by inquiring into historic and ongoing systemic injustices perpetrated against First Peoples in Victoria by State and non-State entities since colonisation until today. Yoorrook is the first Aboriginal truth-telling body to be established in Australia. Click here to see the letters patent that set out Yoorrook's historic mandate.

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources and working across Yoorrook, the Human Resources (HR) Coordinator is a true generalist.

This (hybrid) role is responsible for providing effective advice and support to managers and staff across Yoorrook on a broad range of HR matters. The role will assist in the development and operationalisation of human resources policy and processes and will seek out new ways to improve Yoorrook systems, ensuring that values and agreed ways of working are embedded into all we do.

Importantly, this role will work closely with key internal staff to ensure that our ways of working are fit for purpose and that HR adds value and supports the broader Yoorrook strategy and objectives.

About you

This role would suit a current HR business partner who is looking to develop their skills and become more involved with the broader organisation to progress their HR career.

You will be energised by reducing barriers, enjoy creating easier ways of working and supporting your colleagues and have a commitment to truth and justice for First Peoples.

While HR experience is a requirement of the role, values alignment and being an organisational thinker will be key to success in the role. If you have some HR experience but don't feel like you meet all the criteria, apply anyway, or reach out for a confidential conversation.

This is a fixed-term role until 28 June 2024.

Yoorrook's Letters Patent requires it to prioritise the employment of First Peoples. First Peoples are strongly encouraged to apply for all roles at Yoorrook.

Yoorrook actively promotes diversity, inclusion and an equal opportunity workplace. We welcome applicants from all diverse backgrounds, including people who identify as LGBQTI+, people with disabilities and those from culturally and linguistically different backgrounds.

This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia. As an authorised provider, Yoorrook is required to comply with the state government's mandatory vaccination policy for COVID-19.

How to apply

Apply before the advertised closing date. All applications should include:

  • a resume; and
  • a cover letter which addresses the key selection criteria as found in the position description (within two pages).

If you have any enquiries or concerns about the application process, please contact us at enquiries@yoorrook.org.au
