Who we are 

Service Victoria is an Administrative Office within the Department of Premier & Cabinet charged with simplifying, improving and modernising essential government transactions and delivering customer service.    

We are working hard to deliver a customer service system around what Victorians want and need, rather than what works for government. We know people want easier access to government transactions, including online options.   

Customer feedback about our service has been overwhelmingly positive with satisfaction rated at around 96 percent.    

We are a customer-centric organisation with functional expertise in customer experience, product development, public policy, agile delivery, information technology, service management and corporate governance.    

We have a mature digital services platform of contemporary cloud-based infrastructure, technical architecture and scalable and reusable common capabilities, with real-time integration into agency legacy systems.    

We will continue to progressively add new transactions and new functionality to existing capabilities, including digital licences, digital proof of identity, online accounts and payments, with a particular focus on our mobile app.

Service Victoria is now focused on building the future organisation and the appropriate IT organisation structure and capability that will allow the implemented solutions to be maintained, supported, and expanded upon on an on-going basis. You will also have a chance to work on continuously improving our service offering by bringing in structured improvements based on data analytics and insights 

What a Senior Sitecore Engineer does at Service Victoria:  

  • Helps to plan, design, build and support our products 
  • Contribute to product planning by providing authoritative and pragmatic advice balancing technical excellence, business objectives and quality requirements 
  • Develops high quality solutions to challenging and complex product requirements. 
  • Helps lead the technology strategy, including design patterns, library re-use, testing, and deployment techniques 
  • Provides guidance and technology leadership to the rest of the team, helping everyone improve their skills and craft, contributing to the overall technical capability of the organisation 
  • Drives a culture of continual improvement and introspection and champions a desire to constantly improve within the team 
  • Proactively keeps up to date with relevant technology, trends, developments, and advancements 
  • Participates in a 24/7 on-call roster for responding to incidents out of hours (our teams own the software they build and are responsible for supporting its operability) 
  • Collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders to successfully design, develop and support software delivery to deliver business outcomes in an agile, DevOps environment as part of a team 

What we are looking for:  

  • Several years of experience in Full Stack Development using .Net, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript 
  • At least a couple of years of experience in the development of Sitecore based web applications 
  • Experience with cloud message APIs and usage of push notifications 
  • Demonstrated experience in a Lead programmer, Intermediate or Senior developer position 
  • Demonstrated experience writing modular backend code 
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, improving, and developing SQL database tables. 
  • Demonstrated capabilities in writing HTML/SASS/JavaScript front ends. Note: graphic art skills are not required although being capable of producing a reasonable user interface is preferred.  •   Time-series data collection, analysis, and presentation 
  • Development experience for both mobile and desktop. 
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs 
  • Management of a Linux/Windows hosted environments in the cloud AWS 
  • Experience with REACT, and NodeJS (advantageous) 

Desired Qualifications / Practical Experience 

  • Minimum requirement - Bachelor equivalent on Software Engineering 
  • Master's degree in computer science or Software Engineering (advantageous) 
  • Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Microsoft office suite 
  • Hands on experience with Sitecore (enterprise-level CMS tool)
