About the Role:

CFA have an opportunity for an experienced and strategic Senior Engagement Advisor - Program Development. Reporting to the Team Leader Community Engagement Program Development, this position provides strategic advice and drives community engagement programs across Victoria.

As a community focussed organisation with 55,000 volunteers, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement is key to your success in this role. CFAs Community Engagement team drives and oversees a range of initiatives with the aim of leading and supporting engagement for safer communities. The opportunity requires proactive project management and governance experience to ultimately deliver programs and support key community safety stakeholders in the field, in the design, delivery and enhancement of existing community engagement programs, additionally identifying innovative new programs and approaches, also training development support of volunteers.

The position will work with stakeholders across various sectors to ensure best-practice approaches are adopted. It will also provide strategic advice on the ongoing development of programs and initiatives by utilising a range of communications approaches, channels and modes. Travel within the region will be expected and supported with CFA vehicle.

About You:

The suitable candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. social science, community engagement, community safety, project management) is preferred, and/or relevant industry experience (equivalent 3 years minimum)
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of community engagement programs
  • Highly developed organisational and planning skills in the context of a complex, changing business environment requiring agility and flexibility
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at varying levels and seniority while maintaining effective working relationships Strong stakeholder management and communication skills 

Key skill sets in application include:

  • Experience with agile project management approaches and design thinking
  • Experience developing and/or delivering community education programs
  • Experience coordinating the development of content/ collateral and training packages
  • An understanding of community development principles and behavioural interventions
  • Previous people management is desirable
