The role provides a focal point for integration of CFA's Vegetation Management program with programs of other agencies and organisations.

  • Lead the consistent implementation of sector wide systems and procedures to plan, monitor and report on regional implementation of programs, in particular the planned burning program.
  • Represent CFA at appropriate forums as the subject matter expert to ensure outcomes reflect the position of CFA with respect to vegetation management

This role will focus on the West region of Victoria with options to work from the Ballarat, Ararat or Horsham district offices.

About You:

You will have extensive experience in project management / program implementation for bushfire mitigation, fuel management, land management or another relevant field.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Science, Natural Resource Management or another relevant field
  • Significant experience in staff supervision with the ability to lead, motivate and manage team members
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in fire behaviour and vegetation management for fire prevention preferably involving planning and implementation of planned burning operations
  • An ability to contribute to strategic planning for vegetation management, and provide direction and guidance to translate strategic plans into on-groundwork programs
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and represent CFA at external forums
