This role resides in the Transport Communication & Experience Division, and supports the Department to deliver on the Government’s transport agenda, to get people home sooner and safer and to efficiently move more goods in Victoria’s thriving economy. Be part of a cross-functional team to deliver one of the digital modernisation programs, set-up for scale to enable clear and foundational digital experiences across the Departments digital assets, moving towards a standardised technology framework. The Department of Transport brings together all transport modes to design, plan, build and operate Victoria's transport system. Position Details

Role Purpose

Responsible for leading an Agile squad you will be an expert collaborator that will quickly establish a broad network of stakeholders to understand pain points and opportunities to gain executive level support and align stakeholders.

You will be the conduit between technology and the business, to ensure a solid grasp of the voice of the customer whilst balancing immediate needs of the business with a long-term view.

Data driven, the role is accountable to the launch a new platform whilst also identifying, prioritising and delivering on optimisation opportunities.

  • Set and execute product and service strategies in close collaboration with an Agile team and senior stakeholders, delivering a robust digital product for Victorians and visitors to Victoria.
  • Improve the transport customer experience by identifying business objectives, marrying them to customer needs, and considering technical systems and limitations, managing prioritisation and trade-offs among conflicting priorities.
  • Create and maintain a digital experience roadmap, including ongoing product strategy, product planning, and requirements for new features, functionality and integrations.
  • Lead a squad, collaborating with project managers, solution architects, developers, testers and designers on the tactical aspects of product development setting and tracking against KPIs
  • Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

Mandatory Qualifications and experience

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant field
  • 3+ years' experience working as a product owner in a digital environment
  • Solid understanding of Human Centred Design (HCD) methodologies 
  • Experience in writing user stories, Jira requirements, functional and non-functional requirements 
  • Experience leading various types of customer validation and testing, including iteration reviews and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with real customers
  • Demonstrated skill in prioritising features in an agile environment
  • Experience generating agile aligned product roadmaps
  • Strategic mindset and ability to communicate vision
  • Experience designing for cross-platform services in an agile environment
