Position Details

Policy, Precincts and Innovation is a Group within the Department of Transport, and is responsible for providing policy direction, planning and leading innovation for integrated, simple, safe connected journeys.

The Integrated Transport Planning Team works collaboratively with all branches of DoT, particularly the Regions within Transport Services, in the development and maintenance of Integrated Transport Plans (ITPs).

The team will be responsible for leading the ITPs within metropolitan Melbourne, whilst in parallel working closely with the rural Regions to ensure ITP consistency and coordination across Victoria.

About the Role

The Transport System Analyst will assist in the delivery of evidence-based transport plans, strategies, and guidance relating to Integrated Transport Plans which help ensure our transport systems meet the needs of Victorians, support Government intentions for the economic, social and environmental development of the state and which set the program for future development of our transport networks.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare and distribute relevant professional/technical information at the appropriate time.
  • Analyse complex transport data and trends.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the factors that need to be considered in managing transport networks and use conceptual and analytical skills to develop solutions to moderately complex problems.
  • Exercise independent judgement to effectively plan, initiate and organise workload to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

Mandatory

  • Excel skills and/or experience in using mapping software.
