Network and Security Engineer

We are on the lookout for an ongoing full-time Network and Security Engineer who is customer-focused, highly motivated and experienced.

About the role

The Network and Security Engineer is integral in supporting, maintaining and developing Parliament of Victoria's network infrastructure and platforms to ensure optimal delivery of digital services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide specialised technical support and services to Members of Parliament, Electorate Officers and Parliamentary Officers.
  • Under direction, design, install, maintain and support Parliament's network infrastructure including segmentation, zoning, firewalls, and unified communications facilities.
  • Undertake daily maintenance, reporting, monitoring, and documentation of network infrastructure, security and associated technologies.
  • Analyse information collected from monitoring and logging systems to determine current security posture, platform usage and stability, and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Investigate, advise and deliver new technologies and facilities in order to address business requirements.
  • Provide 3rd level support to the Service Desk in analysing and solving technical problems and find mitigations to prevent recurrence.


About you

As part of the Network Security team you will bring demonstrated success in infrastructure management, network design and IT facilities management alongside:

  • Proven experience with technologies such as (but not limited to) Firewalls, Routing & Switching, Wireless LAN Controllers, Cisco Unified Communications CUCM, Unity, Expressway, IM Translation Patterns, Gateways H323/MGCP, VPN and MFA
  • Proven experience in driving customer focussed excellence and applying lateral thinking and problem-solving skills meet client's needs.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate across a broad technical and non-technical audience and the ability to influence others regarding the use of technology to drive business improvements.

Qualifications and certifications in IT, CCNA R/S, F5 Big IP Administrator, CCNP Enterprise, CCNA Security and/or Palo PCNSE are desirable.
