About the Team:

The Community First team is a multi-agency team, with members based in CFA, The Victorian State Government Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA, previously DELWP) and local government. The Community First team seeks to strengthen partnerships with communities, stakeholders and agencies across the sector to learn and adapt our approach to managing bushfire risk.

We currently have a position available for an engaging and energetic Community Based Bushfire Management Coordinator where you will be joining a team who live and breathe the CFA values.

Your days will see you provide state-wide, strategic coordination of community-centred, place-based partnerships in collaboration with DEECA (previously DELWP), Local Governments, regional stakeholders, and other community-based and emergency management agencies.

You will also provide support and coordination to 10 regionally based place-based facilitators, ensuring a contemporary, collaborative and strategic approach across the state.

About You:

The person we are seeking will have tertiary qualifications in social science, community development and/or significant experience in a role committed to a community-centred approach.  Your leadership skills along with your ability to build and maintain partnerships with multiple stakeholders will be second to none. 

You will be positive and resilient by nature and you will bring interpersonal, facilitation and liaison skills allowing you to develop strong working relationships across multiple state, regional and district agency teams.  Further to this, you will have well developed written and oral communication skills allowing you advocate and influence the sector to adopt and support community-centred ways of working.

This role will suit someone who is interested in securing a challenging yet interesting role, with a a passion for community development and  , developing partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders across the fire and emergency management sector.
