Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Project Officer will form part of a team that is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a new International Recruitment Program. The program aims to boost the Victorian healthcare workforce by supporting both Australian healthcare workers living abroad to return home and international healthcare workers who have secured ongoing employment in Victorian health services to relocate to Australia.
The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for supporting program delivery, with a strong focus on the contract management of recruitment agencies engaged by the program. They will prepare documentation and proactively manage departmental contracts to drive contractor performance and deliver the outcomes sought, including negotiation of key performance indicators with suppliers. In addition, they will build strong relationships and foster stakeholder engagement with the program through coordinating stakeholder advisory and consultative committees.

Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including:
  • (a)    Undertaking research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.
  • (b)    Managing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters. 
  • (c)     Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
  • Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
  • Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines. Prepare supplier contract documentation and appropriately manage records and processes for internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage departmental contracts to drive contractor performance and deliver government and departmental objective, including negotiation of contractual key performance indicators with suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
  • Represent the department on key stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives, and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
