About the role

We are looking for a Social Worker who is seeking an excellent work life balance in the beautiful south west coast.  South West Healthcare's Social Work and Counselling team provides Social Work services to clients (including outpatients, acute and subacute inpatients) and their families, to assist them to cope with the effects of illness, grief and loss, trauma and difficult life events.

As a part of the Social Work, Mental Health and Counselling teams you will have an opportunity to develop your skills in working with people from a range of diverse backgrounds. Every day will be different and you will be supported and nurtured as part of a friendly multidisciplinary team

Scope of Social Work practice includes:

-          Assessments – psycho-social assessments, risk assessments around family violence, elder abuse and exploitation

-          Counselling, mediation and therapeutic interventions including supporting patients and their families to adjust to diagnosis, trauma and emotional responses to illness and treatment

-          Grief, loss and bereavement support

-          Mediation and conflict resolution and advocating for individuals and their families/carers

-          Referrals and collaboration with internal and external services to meet patients and family's needs

You will have access to fortnightly supervision as well as group supervision and be supported to develop your core social work skills and knowledge particularly in the diverse area of medical social work.

This is a permanent full time (80 hours per fortnight) position, with a monthly ADO (Allocated Day Off).

  • Salary between $84,614 to $97,744 per annum (dependent on experience) plus superannuation.

  • You will hold a Degree in Social Work and be eligible for membership of AASW
  • Demonstrated experience as a social Worker
  • You will be able to demonstrate assessment skills, problem solving, communication and excellent engagement skills with others
  • Able to work and contribute to the team
  • Excellent organisational skills as well as verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Commitment to Professional Development - Education, quality improvement and evidence based practices will be your key drivers.
  • Working with children's check
  • Australian Drivers Licence

The Victorian Government has allocated funds to support rural and regional area mental health services to provide incentives to attract workers to roles that are difficult to fill.

The regional mental health workforce incentive grants will support the attraction, recruitment, and retention of new workers to priority positions across state-funded mental health services in rural and regional Victoria. This role has been identified as being eligible for an incentive payment.

(The new workforce relocation and incentive grants program is being administered by Rural Agency Workforce Victoria (RWAV)).
