Position Details

The Commonwealth Games – an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from the 72 member nations of the Commonwealth – is coming to Victoria in 2026.

Millions worldwide will watch the thriving regional centres of Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Gippsland and Shepparton host a jam-packed schedule of 20 sports, nine para sports, the Games ceremonies and festival program that together will showcase the best of Regional Victoria.

The Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Victoria 2026) will deliver the Games. As a joint venture between the State of Victoria, the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Australia, it is tasked with organising a world-class event for athletes, spectators, locals and the Commonwealth of Nations.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Financial Reporting Manager to provide leadership and guidance in respect to Victoria 2026 key financial reporting requirements, including the input into the annual statutory financial statements, monthly reporting to the DJSIR and the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and General Ledger integrity.

Reporting to the Director, Finance this role will provide expert advice to senior management and other stakeholders in regards to the application of accounting standards and other complex accounting issues.

To be successful in this role, you will: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in financial analysis and reporting, particularly in the preparation and analysis of statutory financial statements
  • A tertiary degree in accounting or equivalent
  • Ability to apply the Australian Accounting Standards or International equivalents in solving an accounting query or problem
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of Microsoft Office software with proficiency in excel
  • Practical experience with Financial Management Information Systems and government accounting
