Position Details

The Commonwealth Games – an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from the 72 member nations of the Commonwealth – is coming to Victoria in 2026.

Millions worldwide will watch the thriving regional centres of Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Gippsland and Shepparton host a jam-packed schedule of 20 sports, nine para sports, the Games ceremonies and festival program that together will showcase the best of Regional Victoria.

The Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Victoria 2026) will deliver the Games. As a joint venture between the State of Victoria, the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Australia, it is tasked with organising a world-class event for athletes, spectators, locals and the Commonwealth of Nations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the System Accountant will manage the administration and operation of Victoria 2026 Financial and HR System (Microsoft Dynamics). This role will be responsible for:

  • Modifying the existing Microsoft Dynamics applications to reflect any changes in the organisational structure (where required), chart of accounts, staffing structure, sporting program, competition & non-competition venues, projects and any other required changes.
  • Training new users on the use of the Microsoft Dynamics software.
  • Assistance with financial accounting and development of high quality financial reports reporting as required
  • Implement and oversee the OC's Financial Processes and Procedures to include appropriate controls.

Responsibilities of this role will evolve during the lifespan of the Organising Committee and it is likely that the role profile will evolve with the changing needs of The Games.

 To be successful in this role, you will: 

  • Qualified accountant or strong commercial experience in a financial system
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., conditional formulae, lookuptables, pivot tables)
  • Experience with business intelligence/multi-dimensional software & products as a user
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or a similar finance and reporting package
  • Experience of writing training manuals
  • Proven critical thinking and problem solving skills
