We are seeking a senior lawyer and people manager to lead our team based in Mildura that forms part of Victoria Legal Aid's (VLA) Health Justice Partnership with Sunraysia Community Health Services. This is a co-operative model designed to deliver legal services, raise awareness of the existing legal assistance services available and identify opportunities to drive systemic improvements that improve access to justice for people in the Mallee region.

Position Details

  • Full time maximum term position up to 12 months based in Mildura
  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $112,202 - $142,802 plus superannuation

About the role:
You will be responsible for leading a mobile and innovative team steering a new approach to addressing legal needs outside the conventional office-based model. You will demonstrate leadership to facilitate enhanced access to services for Aboriginal people in the Mallee region. You will collaborate with stakeholders, internal and external promoting collaborative practice between legal and non-legal services, and delivering legal services to priority clients.

About you:
You will be a dedicated leader and senior lawyer with experience one or more areas of law including family or civil law.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with vulnerable clients and stakeholders. You will have excellent stakeholder management and problem solving skills. You will demonstrate pragmatism, creativity and a can-do attitude.
