Office of Projects Victoria

The Office of Projects Victoria (OPV) leads and influences excellence in project delivery so Government projects are delivered on time and on budget, and the full benefits of the investment are realised for Victorians. OPV does this by providing trusted independent advice to the Victorian Government. The organisation provides project portfolio oversight and assurance, improvements to how projects are delivered, independent advice and targeted support, training and advice to project leaders.  The focus of OPVs work is on high value, high risk state infrastructure projects.

OPV's five key priority areas are:

  1. Project Advisory: undertaking project reviews to provide assurance of project delivery;
  2. Data and Analytics: undertaking portfolio wide monitoring and reporting;
  3. Engineering and Innovation: advancing engineering in Victoria and leading technical innovation on infrastructure projects;
  4. People and Systems: developing the skills and capability that project teams and leaders need to succeed; and
  5. Strategy and Productivity: focusing on identifying productivity opportunities in both supply chain and labour areas.

About the role

Key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Providing leadership in undertaking data and statistical analysis to support the delivery of OPV's key strategic projects, as well as supporting regular analytical outputs to the Treasury Secretary and Treasurer on the performance of Victoria's major projects.
  • Promoting the use of excellent data visualisation (including Tableau and Microsoft Power BI), to embed the use and demand for interactive data and high-quality dashboard reporting.
  • Being responsible for the quality of OPV's data held across its systems and oversee a process of continuous improvement.
  • Applying insights to a diverse range of key strategic policy and project questions.
  • Proactively disseminate outputs and ensure portfolio analysis is relevant to a range of Victorian State Government Departments.

About you

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to translate, to a wide variety of audiences, complex statistical and data analysis on key projects supporting the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects in Victoria
  • Proven track record in managing others to ensure outputs are delivered on time and to the highest quality, often under considerable time pressure.
  • Clear, high quality and visually impactful analysis in demanding circumstances, both independently and as a team leader.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in writing clear, succinct briefs and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build relationships and work productively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives.
