About the role
The role of the Primary Care Nurse – Custodial Health, involves working within a multidisciplinary team at Tarrengower Women's Prison and incorporates the following activities: Unsupervised clinical practice, coordination of care, health promotion and teaching, patient advocacy, collaborative patient and unit management, supervision and mentorship/preceptorship, accurate and timely documentation.
On 1 July, 2023, the delivery of primary healthcare at Tarrengower will transition from the current service provider to Dhelkaya Health. Dhelkaya Health is responsible for the provision of primary healthcare to women throughout their prison stay at Tarrengower.
About you
- Minimum of five year's full-time or equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse
- Current AHPRA registration
- Effective organisational skills, with respect to time management and delegation
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team
- Demonstrated evidence of undertaking professional development activities to maintain and enhance nursing expertise
- Willingness to learn new ICT systems
- A commitment to high quality, safe and person-centred patient care
- Experience and/or post graduate qualification working in custodial health, women's health, alcohol and other drugs services, mental health or other relevant specialty (desirable)
