About the role:
Reporting to the Executive Director, this plays a key role in Victoria Legal Aid's (VLA) Criminal Law Program leading our efforts to reform criminal law and practices to advocate for a fairer, better criminal justice system across the state.

This role will work alongside another part-time Strategic Policy Manager, with an Associate Director and senior management team within Criminal Law services, and other policy leaders across VLA. You will provide advice on criminal law strategic legal policy drawing on VLA's expert criminal law practice and client experience. You will oversee and contribute to the development of policy and advocacy advice with a focus on systematic change as a result of law reform and other policy and strategic advocacy strategies.

This is a part time (0.6FTE) opportunity in a job share position.

About you:
You will be an experienced senior policy manager with extensive experience leading a strategic policy function within a complex operational environment. You will have extensive knowledge and experience in criminal law and criminal justice issues including relevant legal and policy frameworks.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your excellent research, analytical and written skills together with your strong stakeholder management skills and collaborative approach. You will also have a strong commitment to VLA's vision and values.
