Position Details

We are on the lookout for an ongoing full-time Draftsperson to join our Property Services team in Parliament of Victoria's Department of Parliamentary Services.

About the role

Working closely with our Principal Architect, you will assist in concept and detailed design, modelling existing site plans to support the planning and execution of electorate office fit-out projects across Victoria. There will also be opportunity to assist in Parliamentary Precinct design projects as they arise.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of concept and detailed design documentation packages; including fit-out works, town planning and landlord works
  • Develop and prepare architectural designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches and specifications
  • Coordinate and conduct site surveys and prepare modelling of site plans
  • Prepare documentation packages and assist to produce drawing sets based on current project and team needs
  • Prepare high-quality presentation documents and visualisations, including renderings and animations with computer-aided design (CAD) software i.e., Enscape
  • Lead the development of required REVIT families

About you

You will bring demonstrated experience in producing high-quality and accurate presentation documents and visualisations to the role, alongside:

  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of town planning and working drawing documentation for light commercial projects, including understanding and application of AS1428.1, Australian building codes and other standards.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and consult effectively with consultants, contractors, key stakeholders and colleagues at all levels in a positive, constructive and efficient manner.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team and have a flexible approach with an ability to function effectively under pressure and to tight timelines
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with programs such as Revit, Enscape, AutoCad, Photoshop and Microsoft Office with the ability to analyse, problem solve and produce a variety of detailed reports, documentation and correspondence to a high standard.

An Advanced Diploma or Certificate IV in Building Design Drafting, degree in Architecture or equivalent qualifications are preferred. A valid Australian unrestricted driver's licence is mandatory.
