Position Details

Reporting to the Head of Assurance & Resilience, and working closely with various stakeholders, the Senior Advisor Assurance is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the assurance framework across the VBA. 

As the functional subject matter expert, the Senior Advisor Assurance plans and delivers assurance reviews (both planned and on-demand), examines compliance status, and identifies continuous improvement opportunities to optimise control effectiveness and efficiency.

The role works closely with internal audit and business stakeholders across the organisation to facilitate activities that provide assurance to the VBA Board, Risk, Audit and Finance Committee and senior management on the VBA's control effectiveness for managing its risk profile and supports other risk management activities such as risk reviews, regulatory compliance (particularly Standing Directions under the Financial Management Act 1994), and business continuity planning.

Who we are looking for?

  1. Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of assurance reviews or audit programs or projects, that are aligned to risk and business needs.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of related risk management standards or requirements (e.g., ISO 31000, Victorian Government Risk Management Framework).
  3. Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise, negotiate and influence with a diverse range of stakeholders and proactively anticipate needs. 
  4. Qualifications in management, business, economics, statistics, data, or other disciplines with a risk or assurance focus would be highly regarded.
