About the role:

  • The Project Officer, Service System Design – Adult and Older Adult, fulfills a key role in the Crisis and Bed-based Service System Design Team.

  • A key focus for the Team in the immediate future is to continue to progress the service system design for the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System crisis recommendations (8, 9, 10).

  • The objective of this work is to establish a comprehensive, network system of crisis supports that are better able to respond to people experiencing a mental health crisis – in their homes, via phone, and in new safe spaces established as an alternative to hospital Emergency Departments.

About us:

At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world. A Victoria where our children and people thrive, our workplaces are productive and safe, and our communities are more connected.

We see it as our job to support Victorians to stay healthy and safe. And to deliver a world-class healthcare system that ensures every single Victorian can access safe, quality care that leads to better health outcomes for all.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Project and policy support for implementation of major mental health and wellbeing reforms for infants, children, young people and families.
  • Contribute to the development of project plans and provision of advice and sound recommendations to senior management and government.
  • Undertake research and contribute to the development of a range of project and initiatives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  • Support effective working relationships and the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
  • Assist in providing advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research.
  • Assist in developing program initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  • Assist in the monitoring and reporting of high priority issues, risks and trends and support the development of reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate collaboration across the department and with key external stakeholders.
