Position Details

About the role: 

  • As the Project Manager, Program Assurance you will be responsible for ensuring systems are developed and implemented to provide comprehensive and accurate advice on the status of projects. This will include providing expertise relating to system tools to support thorough record-keeping for all project documentation such as service and asset planning advice, client requirements documentation, final planning documents and change decisions.

  • This role will coordinate and manage changes to requirements documentation, providing specialist technical systems engineering advice to a broad range of stakeholders and contributing to continuous improvement in project management processes and practices within the System Planning Division.

  • The Project Manager will represent the department or client views in various forums and discussions. An understanding of health infrastructure or health service delivery would be highly beneficial to the role. Strong and engaging interpersonal and stakeholder management skills will be a key to success in the role, as will experience in establishing and managing change control processes for major projects.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Be a high performing individual with leadership, analytical, problem solving, policy development and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated Requirements Management Experience – experience applying Systems Engineering methodologies to the development, management and validation of requirements including expertise using requirements management tools like DOORS NG.
  • Health system knowledge will be highly regarded: Demonstrated experience and understanding of the health system, current health system issues, key government priorities for its development and demonstrated experience and skills that provide an ability to develop new initiatives. Ideally a contemporary understanding of the Victorian Government's health system priorities and objectives.
  • Conceptual and analytical ability: Ability to critically examine proposed solution options with regard to cost, feasibility and alignment with Government policies and strategies. Ability to interpret and define project scope from high-level conceptual ideas/directions.
  • Project management: Consults, liaises with and influences key stakeholders; Monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues; Ensures project objectives are met.
  • Relationship building: A proven track record of developing constructive relationships by effectively managing the competing demands of diverse stakeholders, interest groups, the community and the Government and exercising sound judgement and discretion in responding to a multiplicity of sensitive, highly complex issues that attract strong community interest and media coverage.
  • Planning and Organising: Sets clearly defined objectives and priorities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required; Identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; Establishes systems and procedures to guide work and track progress; Recognises actual and potential barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.
  • Written and verbal communication: Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; Edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; Confidently conveys ideas and information in a clear and interesting way; Handles difficult and sensitive communications well
