Generalist Counsellor

Permanent Full Time – 80 hours per fortnight

MDHS is seeking a motivated, qualified Generalist Counsellor to work within a multidisciplinary team, providing services to people at risk across the MDHS catchment area in this ongoing position. This role involves a mixture of counselling, case management, advocacy, welfare work, group work and health promotion as required.

The successful candidate will be eligible for membership to the AASW and have a proven ability to work therapeutically in a range of environments that include centre based, assertive outreach and other community forums. A current Victorian driver's licence is essential.

To be considered for this position, you will need the following:

  • Eligible for membership to the Australian Associations of Social Workers or Appropriate qualifications in Psychology and current registration with the Australia Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate and advocate in a timely and effective manner
  • Broad understanding of the principles of counselling, case management and health promotion
  • Ability to utilise clinical knowledge and skills to identify and address the needs of those vulnerable with complex and multiple health/welfare needs
  • Understanding and commitment to evidence-based practice and person-centred care
