About us
The Department of Treasury and Finance provides economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.
The team
The Environment, Resources & Decarbonisation team supports the Government's agenda and provides authoritative and timely policy advice to DTF's portfolio ministers and senior management on energy, environment, climate change and natural resources issues. Our advice supports the Government to achieve its target of net zero emissions by 2045, and renewable energy of 65 per cent by 2030 and 95 per cent by 2035. The successful applicant will be joining the team at a critical stage in the state's energy transition, in a uniquely influential role.
About the role
The ERD team has an ongoing VPS6 Manager opportunity available, in the role you will manage a small to deliver timely, accurate, accessible and fit-for-purpose advice on energy, environment climate change and natural resources issues for senior management and government. The team will research on economic and/pr public policy issues that have commercial, legal and financial implications.
You will also be responsible for:
- Manage projects to inform policy development;
- Collaborate within and outside the team on economic, financial and/or public policy projects;
- Manage and influence internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues;
- Foster a positive, collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Provide mentoring and development support for team members.
About you
We are seeking applications with the below skills:
- A strong understanding of the role and influence of State government in policy making;
- Influence – extensive experience in building relationships, shaping stakeholders' views and supporting informed decision-making on complex issues;
- Conceptual and problem-solving skills – demonstrated capacity to solve complex and ambiguous problems
- experience using economic frameworks and tools for policy advice would be advantageous;
- Communication – excellent communication skills including conveying complex issues persuasively to senior executives in plain language;
- Leadership and management – demonstrated experience leading and developing others to pursue common goals.
