About us
The Department of Treasury and Finance provides economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.
Group/Division/Branch
The Economic Group supports the Government in growing employment, material living standards and economic activity through its advice on employment policy, productivity growth, macroeconomic conditions, energy, climate change and decarbonisation, industry development, business innovation, transport and infrastructure policy, and land use planning.
Key tasks include providing advice on inclusively growing jobs and living standards while responding to the challenge of inflation and reducing the emissions-intensity of the Victorian economy.
The Economic Group hosts the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal Secretariat, which supports the Tribunal to determine and provide advice about remuneration for Members of Parliament (MPs), public sector executives and local government councillors.
About the roles
- Under direction, undertake research and analysis on complex issues to inform Tribunal decisions in reviews and determinations about remuneration arrangements.
- Under direction, prepare well-researched and well-written documents
- Drafting and developing tools for consultation and data collection.
- Maintaining collaborative relationships and communicating effectively and professionally.
About you
We are seeking applications from candidates with demonstrable experience in:
- Research, policy analysis and problem-solving skills, with an ability to handle complexity and provide insights on issues.
- Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and data from multiple sources concisely to meet audience needs.
- Quantitative and statistical skills and/or knowledge of basic financial and economic concepts (such as wage and consumer price indices).
- Who have an ability to build effective working relationships, and to work collaboratively to support delivery of Tribunal's outputs and strategic priorities.
- Who work flexibly across different teams and projects to deliver outputs, with the capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and accept changed priorities.
Experience and qualifications
- A tertiary degree in economics, public policy or law would be an advantage.
- An understanding of economic public policy, legislative interpretation or remuneration frameworks for public sector officials would be an advantage.
