Branch
DTF Legal provides internal legal and advisory services to the Treasurer, the Assistant Treasurer, the DTF Secretary and board, and other DTF business units. The team advises on the full spectrum of issues faced by our stakeholders.
About the role
A new unique opportunity for a Director Operations is available at DTF. The Director Operations will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimising the operations of the Department of Treasury and Finance, reporting to the General Counsel. The Director Operations will be responsible for managing and providing operational support and specialist advice on all aspects related to areas of responsibility in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures. The Director Operations will oversee quality assurance programs, improve operational processes and supervise the delivery of corporate services to the Department.
Your key accountabilities are
- Oversee and improve the Department's operations and quality assurance programs, ensuring the implementation of strong governance frameworks for optimal quality and compliance.
- Manage the Department's internal audit program and risk-based strategic planning, while serving as the primary contact for compliance and risk issues. Contribute to DTF committees, including the Audit and Risk Committee and the Information Management and Technology Committee.
- Oversee and enhance the delivery of shared services to the Department, ensuring alignment with policies and strategic objectives while driving continuous improvement. Monitor and evaluate the performance of external vendors and service providers.
- Provide authoritative advice to DTF's senior executive team, review and enhance strategies to align with departmental goals and industry best practices, and collaborate with senior management to address future challenges.

About you
We are seeking applications from candidates with demonstrable experience in:
- Commercial and technical experience across at least two of the following areas:
- Compliance
- Risk management
- Audit
- Information Technology
- Finance
- Procurement and governance
- Human Resources
- Effective supervision and implementation of quality assurance programs and operational processes within organisations
- Management and coordination of internal operational programs to a high level of success
- Effective contract management of service providers, including through a strategic lens and driving continuous improvement
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and senior leaders to overcome challenges
Experience and qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior operational role with responsibility for a broad range of services.
- Strong background in compliance, risk management, and governance, preferably with experience in a Chief Audit Officer or Chief Risk Officer role.
- Demonstrated experience in managing procurement processes and policies for professional services.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the Department.
