Division
Industrial Relations Victoria (IRV) provides strategic industrial relations legislative, policy and technical advice to the Government, departments and public sector agencies.
IRV develops and reviews regulatory frameworks and policies to support a positive industrial relations environment and fair and productive workplaces, secure work and gender pay equity.
About the role
The Executive Director Public Sector IR is a key leadership position within IRV. In this senior position, you will provide high-level, authoritative advice to senior leaders in the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and the Minister for Industrial Relations on a range of complex and sensitive industrial relations policy and strategy matters. You will be instrumental in identifying emerging industrial relations issues, offering high-quality advice on potential risks and mitigation strategies, and delivering innovative solutions to help achieve government priorities.
This role involves overseeing key industrial relations matters within the Victorian public sector, as well as ventures with significant government investment, such as public transport and the state's building and construction agenda. You will work closely with departments and agencies to assist with industrial relations issues and enterprise bargaining, ensuring alignment with government policy.
Maintaining and developing effective relationships across the Victorian Government and with key external stakeholders—such as unions, industry associations, and senior officers in other jurisdictions—will be crucial to your success. You will also represent DTF and Industrial Relations Victoria in whole-of-government forums and working groups.
About you
We are seeking applications from candidates with:
- A track record of providing expert advice on industrial relations issues to senior executives and/or government, requiring considerable depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in industrial relations matters.
- Demonstrated experience in leading the development and implementation of policy frameworks within highly complex and sensitive contexts.
- An ability to build constructive relationships with Government and external stakeholders to assist in the achievement of positive industrial relations outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead and oversee enterprise bargaining and dispute resolution with very senior stakeholders on highly complex industrial relations issues.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage highly specialised staff and resources within an organisation.
- Tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, law or Business is highley desirable
