Group/Division/Branch

This role is based within the Strategic Communications Team which sits in the Strategic Communications and Executive Services Group, part of the Budget and Finance Division. The Division leads the development of financial policy advice to the Government and the Victorian public sector through detailed analysis of key policy priorities—including resource allocation, financial risk and government service performance, financial reporting frameworks, and the state's budget position—to inform and support the publication of key whole-of-state financial reports and the annual state budget.

About the role

This role reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for supporting the delivery of key departmental financial publications, including the State Budget. The role requires strong project and systems management skills leading all production and communication aspects of these significant projects

About you

We are seeking applications from candidates with demonstrable experience in:

  • Proven ability to manage a team of production and communications professionals, overseeing workflow and staff performance while managing multiple projects and activities in an unpredictable and deadline driven environment.
  • Proven ability in managing Microsoft SharePoint sites for organisation-wide document management and large-scale publication workflow including review and approval.
  • Proven ability in leading the delivery of in-house and external editing and proofreading services across multiple competing priorities.
  • Proven experience managing graphic design, ensuring adherence to brand standards, and experience leading the development of new brand identities from concept to implementation.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills for working effectively with and providing advice to senior management, all areas of the department and other stakeholders.
  • A high degree of self-motivation, flexibility and willingness to demonstrate initiative and provide a professional production and communication service to the Department.

Experience and qualifications

  • Experience managing significant publishing and production projects involving tight timeframes and complex issues.
  • Experience managing Microsoft SharePoint for organisation wide document management and large-scale publication workflow including review and approval.
  • Experience developing and implementing publication production workflows and systems.
  • Proven experience managing graphic design, ensuring adherence to brand standards, and leading the development of new brand identities from concept to implementation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of online, internal communication, and production issues, and current trends.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills for working effectively with stakeholders, providing proactive advice on production and communication issues.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a communication-related discipline preferred.
