About the Business Unit

The Emergency Management group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The group is led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities and statutory entities and offices.

A special project has been established under the Office of the Deputy Secretary to lead on the decommissioning and migration of information systems and records of COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV), a former administrative office of the department that was stood up to administer the mandatory quarantine program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the Role

Reporting to the Program Lead CQV Transition, the Senior Project Officer will collaborate with multidisciplinary corporate support teams including Information and Records management specialists, Technology resources, and other Victorian government agencies, to review COVID-19 pandemic response records for sentencing under the forthcoming Pandemic Management Response Retention and Disposal Authority (RDA).

Some of your duties will include:

  • Reviewing and documenting of locations of records and information in CQV databases and retention systems .
  • Developing CQV information lifecycle management plan and data governance framework in consultation with other DJCS business areas and external agencies.
  • Contributing briefs, progress reporting and other high-qualty, strategic deliverables to senior executives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Intermediate Sharepoint and Microsoft Office Suite skills, familiarity with HP TRIM
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in applying government information and records management practices and public sector legislative requirements including the Public Records Act 1973, Health Records Act 2001 and Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent work experience in data science or public/ policy administration disciplines is desirable.
