Position Details

The Opportunity:  

The Commercial Manager will provide commercial advice across a portfolio of projects for the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA). Reporting directly to the Director, Commercial, this position plays a critical role in supporting the development and delivery of complex, high-value infrastructure projects. Working with the support of the commercial and legal team, the Commercial Manager is responsible for ensuring that all commercial, contractual, procurement, and risk management activities align with VHBA's strategic goals and operational objectives. You will be part of a team of commercial professionals, ensuring high-quality advice, stakeholder engagement, and efficient delivery of key outcomes across the program.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Provide strategic commercial advice throughout the project development and delivery process, helping guide projects from concept to completion.
  • Lead initiatives that foster organisational change and continuous improvement, collaborating closely with VHBA's Senior Executives and the CEO's office.
  • Engage with a variety of projects, each with different procurement strategies and delivery models, including PPP, Alliance, and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).

We are looking for:

A driven professional who:

  • Has a proven track record in commercial roles on major projects, with experience in both the public and private sectors, and familiarity with various contracting delivery models.
  • Is well-versed in construction contract management, including cost analysis, payment, and claims management under delivery models such as PPP, Alliance, and others commonly used by the Victorian government.
  • Possesses strong leadership, communication, strategic planning, and analytical skills.
  • Is ready to grow, learn, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while making a significant impact on high-profile infrastructure projects.
