About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV)'s Renting Taskforce was established in March 2024 to crack down on rental law offences such as false advertising, rental bidding, not lodging a bond and renting out a property that doesn't meet the mandatory minimum standards.
The Statewide Manager sits within the taskforce and is responsible for leading and maintaining a high performing statewide team that organises and leads key compliance activities in line with the strategic direction of the taskforce. It also is responsible for establishing and sustaining a broad spectrum of relationships across community and support CAV to advise, educate on rights and responsibilities; while also enforcing compliance with renting laws in Victoria.
Key accountabilities include:
- Manages and leads a team of staff to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Initiates and maintains relationships with peers and senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Negotiates with stakeholders and peers with the object of gaining co-operation and meeting timelines for delivery of project, service, or advice.
- Deliver reports and briefs to CAV management or DGS Executive on complex matters relating to operational performance as required.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Contribute to the strategic development and implementation of processes to support and deliver regional (or area) CAV programs including change programs as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery within the region (or area) and to resolve local operational service delivery problems within guidelines.
- Identify, develop and maintain productive relationships with key regional stakeholders including, business groups, community agencies, local councils, businesses and community groups.
- Work with the regional teams within the region (or area) and the Renting Taskforce Lead in particular to deliver regional priorities and placed based activities, including joint initiatives with other departments.
- Identify emerging business, consumer and tenancy issues in the region, and identify strategies to address the emerging trends that are aligned to CAV and region (or area) priorities.
Mandatory requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Commerce, or other related fields will be an advantage.
- A Certificate IV in Government (Investigation) will be an advantage but is required to be obtained within 12 months of commencement in this role.
- A Current Victorian Driver Licence is required.
