About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Senior Regional Coordination Officer, Emergency Coordination and Resilience is responsible for leading and supporting the departments legislated obligation to be represented on Regional Emergency Management Planning Committees (REMPCs). This role will liaise and coordinate with subject matter experts in branches with emergency management responsibilities across DGS, including Local Government, Telecommunications, Cyber Security, Consumer Affairs Victoria and Births, Deaths and Marriages as well as corporate areas to support.
The role will support the delivery of DGS emergency management operational priorities through the drafting and continuous review and improvement of operational policies and procedures, standard operating procedures and other operational documentation.
The position is well suited to an experienced generalist with stakeholder engagement, communications, policy writing and coordination and/or project management experience. Knowledge and experience of the state's arrangements to manage emergencies, and familiarity with the State Emergency Management Plan and structures is extremely desirable.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent written communication skills and demonstrated ability work to tight deadlines.
- High level policy, strategy, analytical, and conceptual skills and ability to assess high priority and sensitive issues, risks and trends and prepare comprehensive reports, policy and briefing papers for Ministers and senior executive management on complex issues.
- Exceptional organisational, project management and coordination skills, with the capacity to adapt and innovate to achieve the best outcome.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build buy in and support from key internal clients and external stakeholders; identifies issues in common with stakeholders to build mutually beneficial partnerships and find innovative solutions to resolve issues.
- Role models ethical behaviours and leadership, supports individual and team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction and has demonstrated ability to motivate, creating an organisational and team culture that enables others to perform at their best and achieve outcomes the organisation.
