About us 

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.  

About the role 

The Project Manager, Emergency Coordination and Resilience is responsible for managing key emergency management projects for the department. The role will work across DGS portfolio and the emergency management sector to develop, deliver and drive critical projects.

This role will be at the forefront of considering how the department meets new and emerging emergency management priorities, as well as how to best integrate these priorities with existing departmental arrangements. They will work with subject matter experts in branches with emergency management responsibilities across DGS, including Local Government, Telecommunications, Cyber Security, Consumer Affairs Victoria and Births, Deaths and Marriages to deliver coordinated and timely outcomes.

About you 

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: 

  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge in emergency management, and associated emergency management legislation, including the ability to provide authoritative and expert strategic advice and leadership of current and emerging risks and issues.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills to lead and deliver complex projects, including monitoring outputs, measuring success and finding solutions to ensure deadlines are meet.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build buy in and support from key internal and external stakeholders and find innovative solutions to resolve issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to identify key messages and information required for effective decision-making.
  • A demonstrated history of ethical leadership and a collaborative and consultative working style, as well as experience working within government and emergency management structures and processes.
