About the role

South West Healthcare is offering an exciting opportunity for Trainee Instrument Technicians to join our perioperative services team at Warrnambool Base Hospital. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the high-quality cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of reusable critical and semi-critical medical equipment.

Our dedicated and skilled operating theatre team works seamlessly alongside various clinical services to deliver positive outcomes for patients, maintaining a safe and compassionate environment.

These full-time traineeships offer an excellent opportunity for professional growth, with the potential for continued employment after successfully completing your qualification.

As part of the traineeship, you will undergo 12 months of training toward a Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services. This will involve a combination of on-the-job learning and supported study time. During the course, you will gain valuable skills in managing the sterilization of equipment, understanding infection prevention and control policies, adhering to workplace health and safety standards, and interpreting and applying medical terminology appropriately.

You must be committed to completing the traineeship and eager to continue your education and professional development.

The ability to remain calm, friendly, and approachable in a busy, dynamic workplace is essential. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not mandatory.
