Position Details

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager – Budget and Contract Management, the Analyst works as part of a team that provides budget development, management, analysis and reporting services to support a designated client group. 

The position is responsible for:

  • Monitoring budgets, including review and analysis of expenditure within the financial parameters.
  • Calculating and processing budget journals.
  • Reviewing and authorising payments to external entities.
  • Producing and presenting monthly reports on financial positions and forecasts.
  • Providing financial and budget advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Verifying financial information in cabinet submissions, and briefs to departmental executives and the Ministers.

About you:

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Oversee the timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations, annual account working papers, financial reports, briefings and other ad hoc reports and correspondence.
  • Manage transactions using departmental corporate systems, maintain financial systems that support delivery of best-practice, contemporary financial management and services and identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Liaise with a diverse range of internal stakeholders and ensure a high level of client service delivery.
  • Assist in the investigation and implementation of critical projects that develop and review policies, professional standards and operating practices that enhance service delivery, budget effectiveness, efficiency and improved client outcomes
  • Contribute to advice on finance policy, risks, trends and solutions and options for decision-making.

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise:

  • A tertiary qualification in fields related to finance or business management.
  • Experience in public sector finance would be highly regarded.
  • CPA or CA or other equivalent accounting qualification and membership will also be highly regarded.
