Position Details

About the role: 

Reporting to the Budget and Contract Manager, the Senior Analyst works within one of three (3) teams of Senior Analysts and Analysts that will be flexibly deplored to specific portfolios as required. The Senior Analyst will provide complex budget and contract development, management, analysis, and reporting services to support a designated client group.

The successful candidate will have experience in finance, the ability to problem solve and be able to work both autonomous and collaboratively as required. The role also provided for leadership and supervisory functions of Analysts (VPS 4) as required. Maintaining the strong capability and expertise across different divisions will be a feature of this role.

About you:

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Monitor budgets, including review and analysis of expenditure within the financial parameters.
  • Calculate and processing budget journals.
  • Review and authorise payments to external entities.
  • Produce and present monthly reports on financial positions and forecasts.
  • Provide financial and budget advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Verify financial information in cabinet submissions, and briefs to departmental executives and the Ministers.
  • Contract management and program support.

Qualifications / Specialist Experitise:

  • A tertiary qualification in business, accounting, economics or equivalent.
  • Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants or equivalent professional accounting body is desirable.
  • Experience in public sector finance would be highly regarded.
  • CPA or CA or other equivalent accounting qualification and membership will also be highly regarded.
