About PROV

Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) is the archives of the State Government of Victoria. We hold hard copy, digital and digitised records dating from 1836 right up to the present day.

Our impressive collection includes records of immigration and shipping, criminal trials and prisons, premiers and governors, royal commissions, boards of inquiry, wills and probates and much more. These records hold stories of the key events and decisions that have shaped the history of the State of Victoria. 

 

Established under the Public Records Act 1973 our objectives are to:

  • issue and advise on standards regulating the creation, maintenance and security of public records
  • preserve public records of permanent value
  • ensure that the archives are accessible

 

About the role

This role is responsible for communications, online engagement, public programming and digital innovation to enhance and promote engagement with our collection.

 

This role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop content as well as designing and delivering targeted external communication activities. 

 

This role requires expertise in engaging with public stakeholders and the media, as well as having strong technical skills in communications, content development and website CMS and digital functionality management.

 

The position aims to support all sections of the organisation to achieve their annual communication and engagement goals.

The role manages direct reports with responsibilities in graphic design, public programming, communications and on-line engagement.

 

Our hybrid working model requires attendance in the office at least 2 days per week, which includes one of our anchor days (Tuesday and Thursday).

 

 

About you

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in marketing, communications, audience engagement and content development in on line environments
  • Experience in managing website content management systems and ticketing processes
  • Experience in producing audio, video and/or photographic content
  • Experience in digital project management
  • Experience in managing a team
  • A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable
