About us 

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.  

About the role 

Reporting to the General Manager, Community and Consumer Engagement, the Engagement Lead plays a central role in approach to engagement and building capability to understand and respond to community needs (including priority communities to enable better outcomes). Furthermore, the role focuses on fostering strong internal and external relationships, driving engagement initiatives, and aligning communication strategies with business objectives. The position requires a blend of leadership, strategy, communication, and analytical skills to design and implement effective engagement plans, monitor performance metrics, and adapt strategies based on feedback and data insights.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Builds and maintains productive relationships with internal community and consumer stakeholders to gain co-operation and collaboration to inform CAV's work in supporting the Victorian community
  • Develops and maintains governance while implementing and embedding CAVs Stakeholder Engagement Framework
  • Coordinates and implements dynamic and engaging key community, consumer and stakeholder forums
  • Engages and works closely with CAV teams to guide and support their engagement activities

About you 

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: 

  • Provide advice and support regarding effective evidence-based engagement practice
  • Experience in developing. implementing and managing community engagement governance, reporting and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with teams to support engagement activities, build capabilities of staff to ensure engagement is considered, planned, genuine and meaningful
  • Experience effectively addressing issues and views of stakeholders holding competing priorities and views

Other requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, in communications or social science or equivalent experience and demonstrated skills.
  • Expertise in governance, monitoring, reporting (computer and digital technology literacy skills) is required
  • Experience in public engagement (IAP2 or equivalent) and diverse community engagement is desirable
