About the role:

The Senior Analyst is an important role within the Planning and Design team in the Reform Implementation unit 2 (Local Services). The unit, within the Reform Implementation Branch, is to focus on the delivery of complex, priority mental health and wellbeing reforms. The initial, priority focus for the unit is the delivery of Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals (often abbreviated to Local Services) – a flagship reform of the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System and entirely new mental health and wellbeing service stream – however the focus and responsibilities of the unit will evolve over time.

Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Design, the Senior Analyst plays a key supporting role in delivering analytical and project-based contributions to policy development, service system design, and strategic planning. While the role has a strong foundation in data analysis, it is not limited to technical work - it also supports broader policy and project initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for communities.

The Senior Analyst contributes to the development of evidence-based insights through a combination of data analysis, business analysis, and research. This includes maintaining and enhancing data systems, ensuring data integrity and supporting data-informed decision-making. Experience with tools such as Power BI is highly regarded, as the role involves presenting complex information in clear and accessible formats.

In addition to supporting analytical tasks, the Senior Analyst works closely with colleagues and stakeholders to assists in the preparation of policy advice, project documentation and analytical reports. The role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex information to support decision-making and implementation.
