Position Details
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a a Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor to join the Planning Communications and Engagement group.
The Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor plays a critical role in shaping how VPA/DTP planning projects and programs are communicated and received by the community and key stakeholders. This position leads the development of communication strategies, channels and collateral to support engagement, while also identifying and mitigating reputational risks.
As a leadership role, it includes managing one direct report and working closely with the External Relations Manager to uphold the VPA's brand and key messages across the Department of Transport and Planning and the Victorian Government. The Advisor also supports the CEO and leadership team with corporate communications and reputation management.
With a strong focus on engagement, the role is responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating community engagement programs. It provides strategic advice to project teams, ensuring tailored communications and engagement plans are in place throughout the project lifecycle.
Success in this role requires a deep understanding of political and stakeholder sensitivities, consultation methods, and experience managing external suppliers. The Advisor will also lead the facilitation of in-person and online community events.
A key focus is ensuring meaningful and accessible engagement with multicultural communities and Traditional Owners—embedding inclusive practices that extend beyond individual projects.
This is a 12-month fixed-term position.
