About the Role
The CFA is looking for passionate and community-focused individuals for casual roles delivering bushfire safety programs across Victoria.
In this role, you'll support key initiatives like Community Fireguard, Fire Ready Victoria and Bushfire Planning Workshops, helping people understand local risks and assisting communities to create their bushfire survival plans.
Key Tasks:
- Run interactive workshops and promote bushfire preparedness.
- Provide practical advice on property readiness, defendable space and survival planning.
- Support CFA brigades in community engagement activities.
- Report on program outcomes to regional staff.
- Promote CFA resources in fire-prone areas.
About You:
You're confident speaking to groups, passionate about community safety and able to explain bushfire risk clearly. Experience in education, emergency services or community work will be highly regarded.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Undergraduate qualification in community education, community development or environmental management, and/or experience in developing/delivering programs working with communities.
- Demonstrated ability and knowledge of planning, leading and facilitating groups and meetings.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Efficient and effective written communication and reporting skills with the ability to meet ongoing deadlines on sensitive or complex matters.
- Demonstrated understanding of bushfire behaviour, CFA Community Safety messages and local environmental issues is desirable.
- Ability to operate as a member of a team and work with minimal supervision
