CFA is an emergency service that places the community at the centre of everything we do. We work to protect lives and property across Victoria, every hour of the day.
Our organisation is made up of employees working alongside more than 51,000 volunteers. We value the different skills, experience and viewpoints that people bring, because they strengthen how we operate and support the services Victorians rely on.
We aim to be a workplace where people feel supported to do meaningful work, develop professionally and contribute to outcomes that matter to the people and places we serve.

About the Role
The Senior Manager Health and Safety is an ongoing leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and continuous improvement of CFA's health and safety systems and practices. Reporting to the General Manager, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, the role ensures the Occupational Health and Safety Management System is contemporary, compliant and fit for purpose across a complex operating environment.
The role provides authoritative advice to senior leaders on health and safety governance, risk management and legislative compliance, translating regulatory and operational requirements into practical, effective systems and initiatives that support frontline delivery and a strong safety culture.
Leading an established multidisciplinary team, the Senior Manager Health and Safety drives data-informed improvement initiatives, leverages digital systems and analytics, and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to reduce risk, prevent injury and strengthen health, safety and wellbeing outcomes across the organisation.
About you
You are a strategic and pragmatic health and safety leader with extensive experience designing and improving occupational health and safety management systems in complex environments. You bring a strong working knowledge of the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Compliance Codes, and an understanding of relevant Australian and international standards such as ISO 45001 and/or AS 4801.
You are a clear and credible communicator who can provide trusted advice to senior leaders and work effectively with operational teams and external stakeholders. While graduate qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or Risk are desirable, demonstrated experience delivering contemporary health and safety outcomes will be equally valued.
Experience in high-risk, frontline or emergency service environments, including managing complex incidents and driving system improvement, will be highly regarded.
