About the Role

You will interact daily with constituents, community organisations, government departments, Ministerial offices and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities may include:  

  • Monitor, analyse and interpret legislation, regulations and government policy to provide clear, accurate advice to the Member and constituents. 
  • Prepare high-quality briefs and supporting materials for parliamentary sittings. 
  • Conduct research on policy issues and community priorities to inform the Member's parliamentary contributions. 
  • Draft correspondence, media content and stakeholder communications aligned with the Member's messaging and priorities. 
  • Manage constituent enquiries and stakeholder engagement with professionalism, ensuring timely, empathetic and accurate responses. 
  • Develop and manage social media content, including drafting posts, scheduling content and monitoring engagement. 


Candidates with Parliamentary experience is highly desirable. 


Under Section 30 of the Parliamentary Administration Act 2005 Electorate Officers must not perform any party specific activities.  Party specific activity means any activity for the dominant purpose of directing how a person should vote at an election, by promoting or opposing the election of any candidate at the election; or a registered political party; or an elected member. 


Salary

Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2025.  

Grade 2: $85,973 per annum plus 12% employer superannuation 

Grade 3: $98,296 per annum plus 12% employer superannuation 

About you

The role of an Electorate Officer requires you to demonstrate:  

  • Experience in a parliamentary, political, government, or communications environment. 
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare high-quality correspondence, content and briefing materials. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and developing engaging digital content. 
  • Strong digital and technology skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and identify opportunities to improve processes. 
  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Pre-Employment Screening requirements
